From 1995 sculpture guide by Val Corbett

“At this stage of our civilisation, it is important to feel the earth. I am not pessimistic about the future of human beings, but this earth is the only one. And it is difficult for us to live without the earth now.” – Quote by the artist

Positioned just off the Silurian Way near Dale Park, Breasty Haw. A large orb made out of thin spruce branches with one central post running through the middle.  The artwork represents the earth and how it tilts on its axis. The image above shows it during construction, and emphasises the scale of the artwork. It was removed around 2000.
