Theme: Enclosure

Maps Featured on: 1989 – 1997

Quote from the artist – “A preserved dry stone wall is almost forgotten in a fast growing forest. I trapped and made inaccessible a section of the wall in a cage made of black-tarred tree tops. The cage gives the wall a special meaning and so both elements… were combined to make a new image.”

Listed as Wallcave (spelling mistake for Wallcage) on 1988 map. Positioned east of the visitor centre towards Grizedale Tarn. It must have been quite large, using wooden stakes to form a cage around a historic piece of dry stone wall. It was last listed on 1997 map and was removed soon after.
Artist’s other work in Grizedale –
Sound Of Running Water – 1986
Black Tower With Sarcophagus – 1987
Raised Wall – 1993
