Quote by the artist – “I have learned that successful sculptures in the forest are those which have managed to reveal the secret of the forest. In my case I concentrated to bring up quartz lines shown on the surface of the carved form.”

This was on Grizedale Tarn trail in a small quarry next to where Picket Fence is now. This archive image is the only photo I have seen of it. There is a dry stone wall at the front, forming an altar. Also areas of the cliff have been carved out behind, to make windows. There may be more intricacies to it, that this photo doesn’t portray.

Last listed on the 1995 map, the carvings still remain. You can still see the carved arches on the quarry face, and even the marks used from the tools. The dry stone wall alter is long gone.
