On Bogle Crag Trail. Just prior to reaching the brow of the hill where the path forks. Touchstone is amongst the trees relatively far down the bank on the right hand side. It would be extremely difficult/near impossible to find without the way marker. A distinctive rock sticking out of a larger outcrop, gilded in Danish gold. It references Midas who in Greek Mythology is known for turning everything he touched to gold.
Photographs taken 2017
Around 2015 Touchstone was re touched up, along with Scott-Gurner’s other work Picket Fence. The top photo is pre restoration, the second post, it was much more gold when gilded, I believe it has now simply been painted gold.
Left photograph taken April 1997 by Ingram. Right my photo taken 2019
The waymarker for Touchstone since 1997 was a slug. It is no longer in place, having been removed sometime between December 2017 & 2020.
