As part of the creation of the Ridding Wood Trail, an accessible trail in 1991 Will made three Marimbas. This was the start of a long standing tradition of interactive musical instruments sited on the trail. Two were on the path for people to play. This one, the Squirrel Marimba was up in the trees out of reach of visitors, an instrument for treetop animals, or the wind.
It consisted of a wooden beam underneath which hung 8 vertical sticks, and 9 horizontal ones of different sizes. Connected to the trees either side by string, any movement and the sticks would knock together and make musical sounds. It was removed completely around 1999.
