On the high footpath of the Ridding Wood Trail just past the bridge spanning the valley. This was a large wooden telescope that pointed at Carron Crag, the highest point in the forest.

It was positioned beside the footpath and interactive, allowing people to swivel it and look down it (although it was just a wooden tube, it didn’t magnify). I remember you always had to wait your turn to go on as it was so popular. It must have been removed in 1997.
