Egyptian Figure

Alan Grimwood – ? – 1980

This text is from ‘A Sense of Place’ “The final sculpture was a figure on rollers which was sited in a clearing in the forest. The figure had a very strong Egyptian influence and for me was a very important piece of work. The figure was a struggle and there are still some ideas within it to be resolved. I want to work on it further when I return to Grizedale later this year.”

The text above is all I can find about this artwork. For reference I will call it Egyptian Figure. It sounds like the figure was completed even if Grimwood had reservations about it. He did return in 1984 but this work doesn’t seem to be listed on any maps so perhaps by then it was too late to carry on working on the piece.
