Quote from the Artist: “Natural forms, particularly trees, with their sculptural appeal and varying individual patterned bark, have long been a source of fascination for me… Trying to capture the spirit of the bird is what I strive to do.”
On the Millwood trail just up the steep slope from the farm buildings above the centre. It consisted of a was a wooden box with glass windows, like a victorian display case for animals. This Aviary contained birds, an owl a raven and two crows, which were made of wood, twigs and leaves.
I don’t think it lasted very long, only a year or so. When I saw it rain had got inside and the windows were condensed so it was hard to see the birds. This here are two closer images of the birds which were positioned inside the case.
