Quote from the Artist “From the oaks dead misshapen mass a new organic shape evolves, manifestly intrusive, weblike, in its challenge to Man and Nature.”
An old dead oak tree had each branch chainsawed into slices which were then threaded together in order and and connected back to a tree. This kept the same layout of the tree that had been up in the air, now fallen and splayed out onto the ground.

Located right beside the path at Scale Green. The photos above makes the tree look quite small but it still stands and is at least 10 feet high even with the branches removed.
It went in 1997. The rope through the piece must have been cut at some point you can still see the rope in the tree today at the end portion of the branches that were sliced.
