The artwork features three large pillars standing around a number of smaller stacks in the centre forming a circle. The idea is the figures are representative of humans standing around a well. The maquette of the sculpture below is identical to the final piece. The maquette now resides in the Grizedale Arts office in Coniston.

It is positioned just next to Bogle Crag Car Park. Over the years the wood weathered from fresh orange to a much more camouflaged grey and brown. The central well slowly lost its stacks on by one until none remained. Leaving the three figures standing on their own.

Prior to October 2022 one of the stacks has been removed leaving two still standing. Long since taken off the maps these must be confusing for people walking into the forest from Bogle Crag Car Park…
